Ron was born and raised in Washington State, one of six children. His father was an electrician and his mother voluteered
at the local hospital. Growing up in a large single income family, Ron knows how to tighten the budget belt when times
are tough (like now!). Ron is driven by a desire to serve our community.

His service in the military taught him important leadership skills and his years on the City Council have taught
him how to work in a political environment to get things done! In the United States Army, Ron served as a Company Commander with the 101st Airborne Division. He
later served in South Korea, where in addition to fulfilling his military responsibilities he served as an instructor for Central Texas College, Pacific Far East Campus teaching a course in business management. Having served during the first Gulf War, Ron
now serves veterans in our community as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The first in his family to graduate from college, Ron attended
Eastern
Washington
University prior to joining the military. In 1978 he was elected
Student Body President and prior to that he served as an active member of the Student Legislature working hard to make a difference
for students. In high school Ron was part of the gymnastics team where he earned a varsity letter
each year. Ron earned his bachelors degree at Eastern and his Masters degree in Public Administration serving
in the military.

In 2001,
Ron and his wife Jane moved to Buckley from Maple Valley. From
2001 - 2005, Ron served as a member of his local Homeowners Association. From 2002 - 2003, he served on
the City Board of Adjusters. And, in 2004 he began his first 4 year term on the City Council. Ron
served on the City Council until 2009 when he moved to Bonney Lake. His wife (Jane) worked as a volunteer at the local senior center.
Ron will make a difference in Olympia!
